Today you’ll depart on your overnight flight to Munich, Germany – the capital of Bavaria.
Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a representative of Mayflower Cruises & Tours and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to begin exploring this fantastic city. This evening, dinner is included.

Begin the day with an included tour featuring the highlights of Munich. See historic sites and landmark buildings, including the Alte and Neue Pinakotheks (museums), National Theater, Hofbräuhaus and Cathedral. See its popular squares including the beautiful Odeonsplatz and Karlsplatz. During the walking portion, visit the Marienplatz, Munich’s central square, housing the City Hall and its famous glockenspiel. The tour concludes with a visit of Nymphenburg Palace, former summer residence of the rulers of Bavaria. Following the tour, the afternoon and evening are at leisure in this capital city.

Depart Munich this morning and travel to Oberammergau. Known as home to the most important Passion Play in the world, Mayflower Cruises & Tours has secured reserved seats in the best ticket category, for you to witness this life-changing event. Performed every ten years by the inhabitants of this small village, the play depicts Christ’s Passion, and is held in honor of the village surviving the plague and Thirty Years’ War. Over 2000 villagers are proud to participate in this 6-hour spectacle, during its 5-month run. Dinner is included during the performance, and following the play, you’ll check in to your hotel for overnight accommodations. Meal: B, D
This morning begins with a visit to Neuschwanstein, King Ludwig II’s fairytale castle, in a postcard-perfect setting on the shores of Swan Lake, surrounded by the idyllic Bavarian Alps. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred partially up the hill towards the entrance. Built as a retreat, hear intriguing stories about the reclusive king and learn how he became known as ‘Mad King Ludwig’ as you explore the interior of this amazing castle. Stunning views of the surrounding countryside await as you peer from the portals of the castle. After the visit, you’ll be transferred back down the hill, and continue your journey to Salzburg for 3-nights’ accommodations.

Discover the beauty of Salzburg and sights from The Sound of Music on your full day excursion. Begin with a walking tour through this charming city, birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. See the historic Old Town and stroll along the Getreidegasse, a picturesque shopping lane with architecture that still looks much as it did in Mozart’s day, and home to Mozart’s birthplace at #9 Getreidegasse. Walking through Mirabell Gardens, pass the Pegasus statue where the children sang Do-Re-Mi and danced on the steps of the fountain. Visit Hellbrunn Castle with its unique, trick fountains. Travel outside the city, through spectacular alpine scenery, to Mondsee to visit the church where Maria and Captain von Trapp were married. After a day filled with scenery and song, return to your hotel in Salzburg for an evening at leisure.

Departing Salzburg, today’s adventure unfolds with the exploration of the sites and cities of the Danube Valley. Enroute to Vienna, visit the famed Melk Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, majestically towering over the Danube River. The Abbey provides a sweeping panorama of the Lower Alps and is one of the most significant Baroque-style building complexes in Europe. During the guided visit, see the Marble Hall and the Library with thousands of identically bound books. The highlight of the visit will be the Abbey Church, regarded as the most beautiful church in the world. There’s no better way to experience the Danube Valley than on a boat ride between Krems and Dürnstein. Remarkable scenery awaits! Following the cruise, re-board the coach and continue to Vienna.

The day begins with a panoramic orientation tour of this capital city. Travel along the Ringstrasse and see the grand buildings of Vienna, including the impressive Opera House, Parliament and famous concert halls. Stately architecture and historic monuments grace this imperial city, steeped in history. Visit Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburgs, with its magnificent interiors and landscape gardens. The interior visit includes the ceremonial and staterooms, as well as the audience chambers of Maria Theresa and the apartments of Franz Joseph. After the excursion, the afternoon is at leisure for your independent exploration. This evening, gather for a farewell dinner.

Should you have to cancel your river cruise or interrupt your river cruise enroute, we offer a non-refundable Travelers Protection Plan ( TPP) in our deposit schedule. If you cancel your Trip due to a covered Injury, Sickness or Death – your own or that of a Traveling Companion or Family Member – or for Other Covered Reasons, as defined, you will be reimbursed up to the Trip cost for the unused non-refundable prepaid expenses for Travel Arrangements provided by Mayflower Tours. If you interrupt your Trip due to a covered Injury, Sickness or Death – your own or that of a Traveling Companion or Family member – or for Other Covered Reasons, as defined, you will be reimbursed up to the Trip cost for the unused portion of the prepaid expenses for Travel Arrangements and/or the Additional Transportation Cost paid to return home or rejoin the Trip. This plan also provides the following travel insurance benefits. A Traveling Companion is defined as a person or persons with whom you have coordinated Travel Arrangements and intend to travel with during the Trip. Sickness or Injury must require care by a Physician and must commence while insurance is in force for you.This plan does not cover a loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you, an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner), event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this plan is not in force for you.

Important! The Travelers Protection Plan must be purchased by the time of initial payment and may not be purchased at a later date. Not valid for residents of New York State.
PASSPORT: Each U.S. citizen must have a valid passport. Expiration date of passport should be at least six months after the return date of the tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send instructions for visa applications if a visa is required for your tour. Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited. Visa fees and cost of obtaining a visa are not included in the tour price and are the responsibility of the traveler.
REGISTRATION & DEPOSIT: A deposit of $500 per person is required at the time of registration. The deposit may be charged to your Credit/ Debit Card or Check. Registrations received inside ninety (90) days must be accompanied by full payment.
PAYMENTS: After you have registered for a tour, you will receive an invoice with final payment amount and date due. Final payments should be made payable to Discovery Cruises and Tours and must be received ninety (90) days prior to departure. Note: All reservations not fully paid by the ninety-day deadline are subject to cancellation, for which Tour Operator is not to be held responsible.
CRUISE CANCELLATION OR ALTERATION OF ITINERARY: The cruise line (the Line) reserves the right to cancel any cruise, with or without notice, in which case the passage money will be refunded. It also reserves the right to alter the itinerary of any cruise or tour, if, for any reason, this becomes necessary or desirable. Additionally, the Line may, for the same reasons, substitute any other vessel (owned or managed by the Line) for the one named in this brochure. In both these cases, no refund is due to the passenger unless justified by the type of new accommodation offered. The Line also reserves the right to change or alter the sequence of ports or stops on land tours.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND: Payments for land, air and cruise arrangements (less the deposit amount) will be refunded when cancellations are received prior to the final payment due date 90 days prior to departure. Deposits are non- refundable unless the optional Travelers Protection Plan (TPP) is purchased at the time of booking. When the optional Traveler Protection Plan is purchased and it is necessary to cancel your reservation, you will be refunded all payments, including the deposit amount, less the TPP premium. All refunds will be processed by Trip Mate, Inc. Please go to www.tripmate.com/wpF431G for details on the coverage for the Traveler Protection Plan. All cancellation requests must be addressed to Discovery Cruises and Tours in writing. Phone calls for cancellations cannot be accepted.
If you purchase non-refundable airline tickets from Mayflower, the TPP does not provide a refund for the airline tickets in the event of a cancellation or a return transportation benefit if you must return home early. You will be charged the TPP premium for the land tour only. Any changes made to the reservation after final payment that alters the tour itinerary will result in cancellation charges as listed below. If you have purchased the Travelers Protection Plan, the premium will be applied to offset the cancellation charges. Should you choose not to purchase our TPP, the following per person cancellation charges will be assessed for all tours and optional excursion costs:
• 91 days or more prior to departure: Deposit Amount
• 90 days to day of departure: 100% of total tour
• No refund on unused portions of the tour.
Exclusions for the Cancellation Fee Waiver: Mayflower reserves the right to alter its Refund and Cancellation Policy when a substantial amount of cancellation or postponement of travel is attributable to: conditions resulting from an act of God, natural or man-made disaster, fire, government action, civil disorder, war, hostilities between nations, or unavailability of transportation through no fault of Mayflower.
Discovery Cruises and Tours (Tour Operator) agrees to arrange for the tour described in this brochure. This represents the entire agreement between the passenger and his agent, the Tour Host, the Tour Operator and its agents. Except as stated herein, no person is authorized to cancel, modify, or vary the tour arrangements or to make any representation of warranty concerning the tour. Except for the willful negligence of its direct employees, the Tour Operator assumes no liability or responsibility for any injuries, damages occasioned by circumstances beyond the control of Tour Operator, or by any person for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to default or omission of and by any third party providing services or facilities related to or included in this tour or any part thereof, or in arranging for the same, or the acts or omissions of the Tour Host. Tour Operator reserves the right to refuse or revoke travel to anyone who is deemed incapable of group travel per the sole judgment of Tour Operator. Due to circumstances beyond the Tour Operator’s control, the sequence of touring sites may occasionally need to be altered. The airlines or cruise lines are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board planes, ships or conveyances. The passenger contracts, in use by the airlines and cruise lines, and the passenger or purchaser of this tour and/or passage and Tour Operator assume no liability or responsibility in connection therewith. Also, the Tour Operator WILL NOT BE responsible for: (a) flight schedule changes, mechanical breakdowns, government actions, weather, acts of God, acts of war or aggression, whether declared or undeclared, hijackings, or other circumstances beyond its control, including any connecting flights that may be missed as a result thereof (participants should consider the possibility of delays when arranging connecting flights); (b) the failure to follow instructions, including but not limited to check-in and check-out times and baggage handling; and, (c) charges incurred relating to single room/stateroom requirements either by the passengers themselves or their assigned roommates. Payment of the deposit or any partial or full payment for a reservation constitutes consent to all provisions listed in this brochure.
